On 9/11/01, Himanshu Suri, writer and member of the rap group Das Racist, watched the Twin Towers fall from the window of his lower Manhattan high school. On 5/2/11, he began retweeting the most racist and offensive hate-mongering on Twitter surrounding the bin Laden killing. In this piece, he reflects on the anti-Muslim, anti-Middle Eastern, anti-South Asian racism he’s experienced for the last ten years.

i’m about to head off to europe for a couple of weeks of rap shows. i leave you with this piece i wrote recently.
